WHITE | FLOWER POWER Sorbet shops and sea breezes – this is summertime smiles in a bottle.
WHAT WE TASTE White grapes, quince, rockmelon sherbet
PERFECT PAIRING Ceviche, pan-seared oily fish like Salmon or Mackerel, freshly-shucked oysters with shallot mignonette, pulled-pork Tacos (as it can hold up to spice), and dishes featuring lemongrass and ginger.
TEMP CHECK Get it from the fridge for a refreshing start and see how it changes as it warms in your glass.
ABOUT THE WINE THIEF Cheeky as he is lovely, Sommelier Ewan Mackenzie thieves his way around the Cape Winelands, working with some of the best winemakers in the region to champion varietals that are usually blended away. Small batch to the tune of sometimes just a single barrel, these babies are literally made to pair with all kinds of food.
OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE Talk about hands-on – hand-bottled, hand-corked, hand-labelled and hand-waxed, there’s a lot of Ewan’s love (and time) in every stage of this wine.
THE TECHNICAL STUFF Place: Slanghoek Valley, Breedekoof, South Africa Grape: Colombard Style: Pretty as a bunch of flowers!
