Whistler

Meet Sam + Kelsey Pfeiffer

Location: Barossa Valley, Australia

Farming Practices: Organic and Biodynamic Practising

Whistler Wines is a proudly family-run winery in Barossa with deep roots and a rebellious streak. When founder Martin Pfeiffer retired from his role as vineyard manager at Penfolds, he didn’t want a gold watch—he asked for a cutting from the legendary Grange Vineyard instead. That vine still grows at Whistler today, a living symbol of Martin’s devotion to the land and his refusal to do things the conventional way.

Now run by his son Sam and daughter-in-law Kelsey, with winemaker Michael J. Corbett bringing the juice to life, Whistler farms organically, follows biodynamic principles, and keeps things low-intervention in the cellar. The name is a nod to the family’s German surname, Pfeiffer (which means “whistler”), and a happy coincidence—Kelsey grew up skiing in Whistler, Canada. It’s serious wine with a light touch: sustainable, expressive, and full of Barossa charm.
