Vino pH was founded by the dynamic French–South African dream team: Pauline Roux (“p”) and Hanneke Kruger (“H”). What started as a running friendship in the Paardeberg—Pauline at Lammershoek, Hanneke at Adi Badenhorst’s cellar—quickly turned into a harvest adventure in Abruzzo, where they realized they could not only run and party, but also make wine together. Vino pH was born soon after, blending science, soul, and a healthy dose of feminine intuition.

The duo share a disciplined, curious approach to winemaking—always asking “why,” but trusting their gut when it counts. Today, Pauline has passed the sales baton to Hanneke, who now leads the project solo, while Pauline focuses on her other baby - Paulus Wine Co. Hanneke and her husband Thinus (of FRAM Wines) have settled in Piket-bo-berg, a high-elevation ward in the northern Swartland. Starting with the 2024 vintage, Vino pH will be based entirely on their new farm, where steep slopes and cool nights offer a fresh canvas for the next chapter of this joyful, unconventional label
