ABOUT LTD +

Chad and Bree Stock, a husband-and-wife team, have merged their superpowers and unique backgrounds in wine to create Ltd. +, which emerged as a collaboration with farmers in the area, inspired to develop a diverse and sustainable wine landscape. The wines, often made from less common grape varieties adopting innovative techniques, are changing preconceived notions of Oregon wine.

THE GOOD THINGS THEY DO
Where do we start? The whole project is geared toward ensuring Oregon remains a viable wine-growing region through climate change. They’re not only encouraging growers to work with a more diverse spread of grapes that will weather the changing weather, but they’re also ensuring that seasonal workers are employed for longer because these alternative grapes ripen at different times. They’re also active supporters of the BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities in wine.
OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
This baby was one of their special requests for a grower to plant for them. This thick-skinned Austrian grape is biodynamically farmed and is the second last of their vineyards to ripen, adding precious extra days to their harvest.
THE TECHNICAL STUFF
Place: Chehalem Mountain, Willamette Valley, Oregon, USA
Grape: Blaufränkisch, St Laurent
Style: Inky & interesting
Ingredients: Grapes & minimal sulphites

ABOUT ATLAS SWIFT

Just unpacking the name of the brand gives you a sense of how proprietors Martin & Welma Smith view the world. Atlas, the titan of perseverance, tasked with holding up the sky represents how very seriously they take their commitment to protecting the lands on which they grow their grapes. It also speaks to the maps on which the terroirs they work with are laid out. Swifts, one of the fastest and most aerial of the bird species, represents their nimble exploration to find said terroirs. The project, which on the surface, focuses on site-specific Chardonnays from distinctive places scattered across the Western Cape of South Africa, carries with it so much more than just beautiful wines of exceptional texture (Martin is the KING of texture! – Cami). It carries with it the dreams of some of the most authentic souls we have the pleasure to know.

THE GOOD THINGS THEY DO
Martin & Welma see Atlas Swift as an opportunity to raise their young children in an environment where work can be fuelled by passion, where the land and the importance of protecting it, is paramount. They are shaping the next generation to be conscious and responsible for the unique place they hold in the world.
OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
You really can taste the ocean on this one! The vineyard, which is about 8km from the sea, has really high levels of sodium (salt) and potassium in the soil, which Welma believes is the secret to that minerally (think of rocks along the shore), salty character in the wine.

Place: Cape South Coast, South Africa

OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
It’s the most Chardonnay-y of the range – showing that dreamy buttery oaky side of the grape, more because of the kind of soil it’s grown on than the use of oak (try the Cape South Coast Chardonnay to compare – it’s made the same way!). Limestone & Chardonnay are a match made in heaven – one that gives us some of the world’s most beloved (and often, expensive) Chardonnays.

NOBLE DRY CHENIN BLANC

Sold Out

By Ltd +

 WHITE | BUTTER, BABY
This one is a personal favourite of Leigh-Ann’s for sentimental reasons – the winery she worked at back home in South Africa makes a Chenin with a bit of Botrytis (which sounds a little better than Noble rot?), so there’s a little bit of home in this one for her.

WHAT WE TASTE
Honey, bruised pear, breakfast tea

PERFECT PAIRING
Foie gras, goat cheese salad, citrusy grilled shrimp
TEMP CHECK
Start from chilled but skip the ice bucket once it’s open.

OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
There’s a very specific honeyed marmalade character that pops up when Chenin gets a bit of Noble rot (don’t fear the word ‘rot’, this is the stuff that makes regions like Sauternes famous) & we’re just obsessed with the extra lusciousness it adds to this wine.

ABOUT KOTTABOS

Kottabos takes its name from an ancient Greek drinking game, where after a few glasses of wine, friends would fling leftover lees toward targets—because why not? In this case, it's a side project from Reenen Borman of Boschkloof, designed for experimentation beyond his family’s estate. A second-generation winemaker, Reenen has earned a reputation as one of South Africa’s best (casually – he’s been awarded more 99 points by international critics than any other South African winemaker in history, and one of less than 10 to be awarded 100 pts), bringing both technical skill and instinct to Boschkloof’s vineyards. After studying at Elsenburg and gaining hands-on experience in the Rhône Valley, he returned to Stellenbosch to refine the wines that have shaped his name over the years. That dedication was recognised in 2023 when he became a member of the prestigious Cape Winemakers Guild—an honour reserved for only around 40 winemakers in South Africa. (Niels at Luddite is also one of the OG members!)

THE GOOD THINGS THEY DO
The Borman family prioritizes sustainable farming, handpicking every grape to ensure quality, while the cellar approach stays minimal—ambient yeast fermentations, and a move away from new oak in favour of concrete and terra cotta. The result? Wines that are timeless, honest, and full of character. At the heart of it all, three families have worked on the farm and in the cellar for over 15 years, making Boschkloof as much about the people behind the wine as the wine itself.
OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
It treads a beautiful tightrope between a classic, elegant wine & something experimental. And it does it so very well. It’s an orange you can take home to meet the parents.

OUR FAVE THING ABOUT THIS WINE
The 40-year-old own-rooted Pinot Gris vines at Resplendor Vineyards are a testament to the effort to preserve this special grape variety, first commercially planted in the US in the Willamette Valley. This wine aims to encourage old vine-growers to receive Pinot Noir prices for their Pinot Gris, helping to keep historic vineyards like these thriving and to continue sharing the unique story of Willamette Valley Pinot Gris. This vineyard is home to the original Eyrie clone, the first clone of Pinot Gris planted in the valley
